Day 15: Transforming & Moving Objects

In this lesson, you will learn how to quickly resize and rotate objects using the Transform functions. I will be showing some useful transform tricks to create random rotating objects using Transform Each function.

Resizing Objects

Method 1: Select the object with Selection Tool and the bounding box will appear. Select the corner handle and resize while holding Shift to constrain proportion.

Method 2: To resize from the origin point (the center point of the object), hold Alt/Option while holding Shift.

i already know that trick because of Corel, thats why i would know if illustrator could do a geometric progression, I mean, this same last trick but recognizing the las change whit a similar progressionfor the next one. For example, I duplicate, then turn 30 degress the duplicated one, then command D to duplicated the turned one, IT WILL APPEAR THE NEW DUPLICATION TURNED PLUS 30 DEGRESS. AND EACH NEXT DUPLICATE (COMMAND+D) THE NEW ONE WILL KEEP TURNING. THAT IS VERY USEFUL.

I know about this tip from Corel as well, however, for some reason when I hit ctrl+d in Illustrator it creates a new one following the same rotation degree but the previous one goes away and I’m left with only the new one, is there a setting I need to change for duplicates or something? Like keep original?

  3. You had to ruin it. It was going so good, I actually learned so much and thank you for that. But I knew this was too good to be true.

Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my
own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that,
how you presented it. Too cool!
